At Midwest Vision Centers, we’ve been serving our customers for over 40 years, offering a wide variety of contact lenses to meet every patient’s lifestyle and vision needs. Whether you’ve been a longtime contact lens wearer or are considering contacts for the first time, we want to make sure you leave with lenses that fit that provide clear, comfortable, and convenient vision.

Why Choose Contacts?

You’ll have different eyewear needs based on your lifestyle — and when it comes to contact lenses, we don’t believe in a “one size fits all” approach. Contacts are a great option for people who play sports or just have a fast-paced lifestyle, or, for those who just like the way they look without glasses. No matter what your reasons are, we’ll be able to help you find your perfect fit.

The Importance of a Contact Lens Exam

While annual eye exams are important for your eye health, a contact lens exam is an essential extra step for patients who wear contacts. Since contacts sit right on top of your eyes instead of just in front of them, your contact lens prescription will be slightly different than your glasses prescription.

During a contact lens exam, we’ll also examine the surface, size, and shape of the front your eye so that we can decide which types of contacts would be best for you. Your degree of refractive error, eye measurements, and whether or not your prescription includes an astigmatism all go into a final decision. After all, contacts that are uncomfortable or don’t fit your eyes well will not only affect your quality of vision, they can eventually damage your eyesight. That’s why we take the time to properly fit contact lenses to the unique factors or your eyes.

Types of Contact Lenses

At Midwest Vision Centers, we carry a wide variety of contact lenses to meet your needs. This includes hard and soft lenses, bifocal, multifocal, and toric lenses, and daily disposable and long-term wear contacts.

“Hard” contact lenses are generally rigid gas permeable lenses, meaning they’re slightly more flexible than they were when they were originally invented, but are still durable enough to help prevent tears and stretching. They’re easy to care for, retain their shape, and don’t dehydrate as easily as soft lenses.

Soft contact lenses are made of flexible material and are easier to insert and keep in place. They’re generally regarded as more comfortable to wear but less durable than hard contact lenses. Soft lenses are available as non-disposables, monthly or weekly wear, and daily disposables.

During your contact lens exam, we’ll help you make a decision on what type of lenses would work best for you, based on your lifestyle and eye health.

Lenses to Fit Your Needs

Contact Lens Maintenance

If you decide that contacts are right for you, we want you to be sure to follow guidelines for proper contact lens care. It’s important to never stretch your contacts beyond the recommended length of time they are to be used. Trying to stretch the life of contact lenses could lead to a crack, scratch, or chip in the lens, which can cause discomfort, irritation, and potential injury to the eyes.

We encourage our patients to come in every year for a new contact lens exam. Even the smallest changes in your eyesight can cause headaches or eye strain, so it’s important to have your vision examined every year and have your prescription updated before you buy your next year’s supply of contact lenses.
